About

After a painfully slow realization that my life wasn't making me feel fulfilled, I began asking questions I'd previously never let myself ask. What does it mean to be alive as a human being? How do we actually perceive ourselves and each other? What does a meaningful life consist of? As a man now in my fifties, this feels like the right path because it finally aligns with what I genuinely value - exploring, wondering, and resonating with others.

I grew up learning to focus intently on school, career, wealth, and status, without ever questioning why, or what it was costing me. I lived by valuing these above all else for most of my life. Now I'm trying to gradually become nobody instead. That may sound strange, but I'm learning that working with my ego is the only way I'll ever let go of misaligned values and begin to understand myself. This site is where I share what that process looks like - what I think, ask, understand, and experience, as I look at life through a different lens.

This website is intended as a non-religious space where I can explore ideas and experiences in long form - something that's hard to do on social media. My X channel consists of brief, spoken-voice observations. This site is the slower, more fully explored version of the same. Why "Breath Is Real"? Breath is a bodily function that's both automatic and consciously controllable. In ancient Indian philosophy, prana means life force, and breath is its most immediate expression. Our reality in this world begins and ends with it. Focusing on my breath is teaching me to become more mindful, more present, and to cling just a little bit less. It is also helping me look at everything else in life, simple or complex, without judgment - and to ask why, until I get closer to what's actually real.
